To know 8th grader, Sophie Feldman is to be reminded that goodness and family values are important when raising the whole child. Sophie is a 14-year old eighth grader at Warren Middle School who is known for seeing a different side of things. She often reflects on unique life experiences that are drawn from dinner time conversations, family excursions, and through a genuine love for learning. Within the Feldman Family there is a strong support for education, but more so the encouragement for a healthy and balanced life. With values come excellence and the desire to make the world a better place. Sophie has demonstrated excellence not only through humanitarian efforts, but through academic achievement and exceptional leadership at Warren Middle School. This year Sophie displayed a wide array of talents and has brought distinction to her community in numerous ways including outstanding achievement in academic, artistic, music, and leadership activities. As a geometry honors student, Sophie attends the Watchung Hills Regional High School for math. She has demonstrated academic excellence through participating in many academic tournaments over her middle school career. Her contributions to the Warren Middle School quiz bowl team brought recognition to her school several times this year with championship awards. Additionally, Sophie played an active role in the New Jersey Peer to Peer Program where she enjoyed working with younger students on activities that promote healthy living. She participated in a number of civic projects including Somerset County United Way's Gifts of the Season, several outreaches to the elementary schools, and helped support the Warren Middle School character education program. Overall, Sophie Feldman is a stand out among her peers mostly in her positive attitude, her generous spirit, and an overall desire to strive for and achieve personal excellence. Sophie Feldman is the 2013 recipient of The 6th Annual Warren Showcase Award of Excellence.
