In the spirit of continually Giving Back, this column Showcases three meaningful organizations and charities that are doing amazing work and would appreciate your donations of time and/or money.
Please remember that generous donations are critical to our neighbors down the street, across the nation and around the world.
The Showcase will feature charities in every issue with the hopes that one will stand out and become special to you. From all of us at The Showcase Magazine we wish you a Happy Autumn Season!
On September 11, 2001, Stephen had just gotten off the late shift at Squad 1, Park Slope, Brooklyn. He was on his way to play golf with his brothers when his scanner told of the first plane hitting the Twin Towers. When he heard the news, Stephen called his wife Sally and asked her to tell his brothers he would catch up with them later, and then returned to Squad 1 to get his gear. Love is Louder is a project of The Jed Foundation created with actress Brittany Snow to support anyone feeling mistreated, misunderstood or alone. It’s hundreds of thousands of people just like you who have turned this idea into a movement. A movement of all types of people who have come together to raise the volume around the message that love and support are louder than any internal or external voice that brings us down.
Individuals, communities, schools and organizations have embraced Love is Louder as a way to address issues like bullying, negative self-image, discrimination, loneliness and depression. Even as we work to stop negative words and actions that hurt us, we can strengthen our abilities to cope with hard times, focus on the positive, support the people around us and reach out for help if we need it.
How can you be part of the Love is Louder movement? Visit loveislouder.com for more information. With your help, we are getting even louder.
